Christian Alliance P.C. Lau International School (CAPCL), a non-profit making school wholly owned by Kowloon Tong Church of the Chinese Christian and Missionary Alliance, invites applications from potential applicants to fill the following position:

Teaching Assistant

Teaching Assistants (TAs) plan, prepare and develop various resources for teachers. TAs work independently in small groups or with individual students under the prearranged guidelines of the teacher, Team Leader (TL), Assistant Principal (AP), or Head of School (HoS).

Job duties

  • Reinforce learning and implementing instructional programs in small groups or with individuals under the direction of the teacher/TL/AP during school days.
  • Observe, record and chart student behaviour and learning progress as requested by the teacher/TL/AP.
  • Implement behaviour management as requested by the teacher/TL/AP.
  • Prepare and produce teaching materials and modifications.  TAs should remain with the class unless otherwise arranged by the teacher/TL/AP.
  • Support all necessary administrative work relating to assigned students and their families such as attendance check, lunch order, uniform order, field trip, immunization, extracurricular activities, school events, etc.
  • Supervise students and ensure school safety expectations in the morning before school, during recess, lunch break, and after-school dismissal.
  • Provide First Aid in case of an accident or emergency and refer the matter to the Health Care staff as soon as possible.  Submit a completed incident report related to the case before the business close on the day of the occurrence.
  • Support and supervise students in their participation in activities and outings.
  • Support school events as needed such as preparing and producing materials, setting up equipment, etc.
  • Participate in school-sponsored professional development programs as required.
  • Assist in toileting as needed.
  • Any other ad-hoc projects/works and administration duties as assigned by the School

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor degree holder or related disciplines required
  • Fluency in spoken and written English required
  • Fluency in Mandarin preferred
  • Working experience in a school setting or young children preferred
  • Commitment to best educational practices and on-going professional improvement
  • Good team player
  • Christian is highly preferred

The starting date for this appointment is 15 August 2024.
